Here is a really good place for four wheelers to learn more about driving safety
Safe-Driving Resource.com

Truck Driver Safety, Is INFORMATION that: YOU MUST KNOW,AND KEEP UP TO DATE WITH AT ALL TIMES! . Driving safe is no accident, You must constantly keep yourself updated and aware, Of all the things that can cause an accident. As well as, Forcing yourself to follow the guidelines as you drive, To make sure that you as a Driver, Are following the proper safety procedures.

I10 TRUCKING Personally believes, That a Driver Could Do No Worse, Than Taking Truckers Defensive Driving, On at least a monthly basis! Just Because You've Been On The Road, Before Roads Were made, Does Not Make You MORE INVINCIBLE! OR MORE EXPERIENCED, Than A Rookie, With The Smith System Training ! It Is So Easy, To forget what All is Safe, And what is Not. One Thing You Can Never Be, And That Is Safe Enough!. There Is Always Something More Any Driver Can Learn To Make He Or She A Safer Driver.

As a Professional Truck Driver, I have driven over 2,000,000 and have NEVER EVER had ANY Accidents whatsoever. It's not bragging, It was a Hard Earned Status that took Lots and Lots of Patience and Awareness!, And Constantly Reminding Myself that I Am the Only Person, Who could keep My Driving Record Spotless, No One else could do this for Me, But Me. No amount of Safety Meetings was going to force me to stop tailgating, Or keep me patient enough to deal with Rush Hour Traffic on Interstate 10, Or any of the large cities I10 passes through, Like Jacksonville,New Orleans,Houston,Phoenix or Los Angeles.

Much less driving through fog, rain, sleet, ice or snow. With 80% of All 4 Wheelers Operating Under The Influence of Something. Whether it's Over the Counter Medication,Prescription Medication,Illegal Drugs or WORST OF ALL THESE MENTIONED, ALCOHOL!. 80% percent really is a very big obstacle, That one must understand At All Times!, While driving.

Programs like Smith System Training are very good. "IF YOU KEEP THINKING ABOUT AND REMINDING YOURSELF" of all the keys to Truck Driver Safety. Personally I always use something like this:

ALL:
Aim High In Steering.
GREEDY:
Get the big picture.
KENNEDYS':
Keep your eyes moving.
LOVE:
Leave yourself an out.
MONEY:
Make sure everyone else can see you.

Truck Driver Safety is not something that just happens. A driver must always make it their first consideration no matter what any dispatcher says. Let me make this simple for you. If I let my boss(dispatcher)force me to drive in an unsafe situation, And I have an accident, Then I will usually get the ticket as well as the pink slip if I crash,Right? Well I can always get another driving job with another company if I have a clean driving record but if I crash, I have nothing. No leverage to get another job and no one will seriously be willing to pay me good money knowing that I have crashed, Much less what the Insurance Companies have to say about it.

I have personally been terminated for refusing to run in unsafe conditions, And in just a few short weeks, I got the best driving job that I had ever had. So then I actually had to thank the people for firing me cause I would never have been in the position to get the better job, If they had not have terminated me for being "TOO SAFE" in the first place. The night that I refused to run, Over 300 hundred accidents occurred right where I would have been driving. So I still believe that being accident free is much more important than making the boss happy. I may write an e-book on this subject later if I see enough folks interested in reading it. So let us know, Using the form below. A great driver always does his research.
